Baku is ancient city, so there is a lot of historical and architectural monuments which was built in different periods. Baku's climate is Mediterranean and subtropical. The long summer, which runs from May to September is dry and hot. In Baku, the winter is mild, so in the middle of January the temperature is 3-5 degrees. The winter usually consists sunny days without snow and frosty.
According to its history so many ancient and architectural monuments which are belonging to different periods have been preserved till now in Baku:
Icheri Sheher is the oldest part of Baku, historical and architectural preserve. In Icheri Sheher has more than fifty historical and architectural monuments about different periods. The Shirvanshahs Palace, the Maiden Tower, the Siniggala Mosque are examples of preserved monuments.
Baku cuisine is rich with colorful and different dishes. “Deve qutabi”, “dushbere”, “shah plov” are the most famous.
Fig, white and black grapes, almond, pistachio, olive are the best fruits of the Baku gardens. Baku is famous for its herbs, various spices, saffron, tomatoes.
